AI can assist the work. People remain responsible for the work.
Responsible workplace AI is not about slowing people down. It is about knowing where AI genuinely helps, what must be checked, what information should not be entered, and where human authority must remain in control.
Human accountability stays visible from start to finish.
The Academy teaches a simple human-in-the-loop model: AI may support drafting, organising, summarising and communication, but the final judgement remains with the person who is competent, authorised and accountable for the work.
Use AI for support
Lower-consequence communication, planning, supplied-information summaries and first drafts can often benefit from AI assistance.
Challenge the output
Professional-looking text can still contain invented facts, unsupported assumptions, missing context or outdated information.
Retain responsibility
AI does not become the supervisor, engineer, competent person, trainer, statutory decision-maker or final approver.
RISE™ creates a repeatable way to work with AI.
The framework helps learners make a decision before the prompt, think during the interaction, and retain responsibility after the output.
Not every task deserves the same level of control.
Green / Amber / Red is used as an educational learning aid. It helps learners think about consequence, but it does not replace an organisation's risk-management system or workplace requirements.
GREEN — ASSIST
Lower-consequence administration and communication. Human review is still expected before workplace use.
AMBER — REVIEW
AI may assist, but additional verification and/or competent or authorised review may be required.
RED — DO NOT RELY ON AI TO DETERMINE THE OUTCOME
Safety-critical, statutory, engineering, competency or other high-consequence decisions.
Eight things to challenge before using important AI output.
VERIFY is designed as a quick review aid, not a substitute for professional review or workplace systems.
Useful AI starts with knowing what not to enter.
A public AI tool being available does not mean it is approved for your workplace or suitable for confidential, personal, proprietary or commercially sensitive information.
- Follow employer-approved systems and policies
- Understand the difference between consumer and organisation-managed environments
- Do not assume paid access automatically makes a platform suitable for sensitive information
- Remove unnecessary identifying or proprietary information where appropriate
- Escalate uncertainty before entering information that may be protected
ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini and others
The Academy teaches core principles first, then overlays modular guidance for relevant AI platforms. This keeps the training useful even as products, interfaces and features change.
Responsibility does not mean pretending AI is risk-free.
Not automatic truth
Fluent language is not the same as verified information.
Not automatic authority
AI output does not override competent people, workplace systems or statutory responsibilities.
Not automatic approval
A commercially available platform may still be inappropriate for a particular employer, task or information type.
Useful first. Responsible all the way through.
The Academy's goal is not to make learners afraid of AI. It is to help them use it confidently on suitable tasks while preserving judgement, verification, confidentiality and accountability.
